In latest news from Uttarakhand, three pilgrims-all women-were killed when the bus they were travelling in while returning from Gangotri skidded off the national highway and fell into a gorge near Gangnani. Five others, including the driver of the bus, were seriously injured. There were 27 people travelling in the ill-fated bus. The accident happened at around 9.15 pm.
On being informed, several teams from NDRF, SDRF, police, fire, forest and revenue departments rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. The SP Uttarkashi Arpan Yaduvanshi said that one of the deceased was Deepa (55), resident of Haldwani. She had died on the spot while two others succumbed during treatment. Five of the injured were later referred to AIIMS Rishikesh as their condition worsened.
