The decision of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to visit Adi Kailash on the International Yoga day and perform Yoga near pristine Parvati Kund has helped in giving an immense forward push to his dream of developing Adi Kailash and nearby areas as a hub of religious and spiritual tourism in the State. The area was firmly placed on the world tourism map by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visited Adi Kailash in October last year. The stunning visuals of PM doing meditation on the banks of Parvati Kund with snow covered Adi Kailash in backdrop had drawn worldwide attention. The branding done by PM Modi has reflected in the increased tourist footfall in Adi Kailash and other tourist spots of Pithoragarh district. As per the data of district administration of Pithoragarh, more than one thousand tourists are visiting Om Parvat, Adi Kailash and the Parvati lake every day.
It appears as if CM Dhami who had accompanied PM Modi during his visit to Adi Kailash wanted to give another push to highlight the tourism potential of the area and for this he decided to make Adi Kailash as the venue of the programme on International Yoga Day.
The fact that stunningly beautiful pictures and video of CM performing Yoga in the backdrop of majestic and reverential Adi Kailash are receiving public admiration has proved his decision to hold the programme there correct.
It is pertinent to mention here that CM Dhami has envisioned Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission (MMMM) to promote religious tourism in the Kumaon region of the State. The idea is to focus on the ancient temples of Manaskhand (Kumaon) and make the area another hub of religious tourism apart from the Char Dham circuit of Garhwal.
Experts opine that Adi Kailash and the temple cluster of Jageshwar are key temples of the Manaskhand mission and the promotion of these places by PM Modi and CM Dhami will help in the success of the MMMM.
