SP extends support to Congress in Vidhan Sabha bypolls

Sunday, 23 June 2024 | PNS | DEHADUN

The Samajwadi Party will support the Congress candidates in the Badrinath and Manglaur Vidhan Sabha bypolls for which the voting will be held on July 10. Stating this while addressing the media here on Saturday, the party’s national secretary Satyanarayan Sachan said that this decision has been taken on the directions of the SP national chief Akhilesh Yadav. He said, “We believe the Bharatiya Janata Party is consistently raising communal issues like demographic changes, outsider and native, and Uniform Civil Code while keeping silent on issues like tackling unemployment, health and education.”

Sachan further said that to mark Yadav’s birthday on July 1, the party will observe the ‘PDA Swabhiman Diwas’ in all the Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the State.  PDA Panchayats will be organised and talks will be held on the relevance of social justice on the occasion. The SP will also conduct a campaign in the mountainous regions seeking reservation for the youth at the Centre. A party delegation will also meet the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and seek proportionate reservation for the backward population in the State and Centre, Sachan added.
