Rain & thunderstorms likely in parts of all districts today

Light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State including Dehradun on Sunday. The weather has remained comparatively cooler during the past few days due to the pre-monsoon showers, though the maximum and minimum temperatures have still remained a few notches above normal in various parts of the State. More rain is forecast on Monday with the State meteorological centre forecasting that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Nainital districts and at a few places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Almora, Champawat, Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri and Udham Singh Nagar districts and at isolated places in Haridwar districts today. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State and intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Almora, Champawat, Dehradun, Pauri and Tehri districts on Monday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky today. Rain with thunderstorm/gusty wind (30-40kmph) is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places in the State on Sunday were 34.8 degrees Celsius and 26.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 37. 6 degrees Celsius and 28.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.8 degrees Celsius and 16.4 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.5 degrees Celsius and 19.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in a various places with 15 millimetres in Mukteshwar, eight millimetres in Haldwani, 6.5 millimetres in Almora, 5.3 millimetres in Dehradun, 4.1 millimetres in Pithoragarh and 2.2 millimetres in Mussoorie.
