Two men from Gujarat and MP die in Uttarkashi

Two people belonging to Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat died after the two-wheeler they were riding fell into a 200 metre deep gorge in Uttarkashi on Monday. The accident occured near Gangani Road in the Bhatwadi area of Uttarakashi on the afternoon. The officials said that the police called the rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after getting the information of the accident. A team reached there under the supervision of chief constable Satyendra Singh along with necessary equipment. The team descended into the deep gorge using a rope and reached the victims who were found dead at the spot. They brought the bodies to the main road through an alternate route on stretcher with the help of local police and local people. They handed over the bodies to the police who sent them for postmortem, the officials said. They informed that the deceased have been identified as Ashish Mishra (47), a resident of Indore, MP and Kachadiya (27), a resident of Surat in Gujarat. They were riding a motorbike with number plate GJ18FC1194 and were going to Gangotri Dham when they lost the control of the vehicle due to which it fell into the deep gorge. The officials also informed that the police found an identity card of a major in Indian army in Mishra’s pocket but it is yet to be verified if it belongs to the deceased.
