SIT to probe financial irregularities in cooperative bodies

The State government has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in cases of financial irregularities in the cooperative committees. The Cooperation minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that he was receiving complaints of irregularities in the financial transactions of some cooperative committees after which he directed the officials to conduct a departmental inquiry. He said that in the first phase of the departmental inquiry cases of financial irregularities and fraud have come to fore in some committees. Rawat said that the guilty would not be spared and a SIT probe has been ordered in the case.
The departmental probe of Cooperatives department has found irregularities in the Dadamandi and Chandpur MPACS in Pauri, Vikasnagar, Tyuni, Dasau and Bhaniyawala MPACS in Dehradun, Daida MPACS in Rudraprayag, Meghadhar, Badkot, Sandana, Padia, Raunia MPACS in Tehri, Falsima and Bhowali MPACS in Almora, Belda, Manglaur east, Khelpur, Jawaharkhad, Khedi- Sikohpur, Dhanpur and Salempur MPACS in Haridwar, Masoli MPACS in Chamoli, Jakhol in Uttarkashi, Lyolikot and Suyalwadi in Nainital and Faujimatkota farmer cooperative committee and Rudrapur MPACS in Udham Singh Nagar district.
The minister said that the departmental inquiry has found involvement of officers and employees in the financial irregularities. He said that strict action will be taken against those involved in the irregularities and orders for recovery of the money with interest from the culprits has been given.
Rawat said that the cooperatives department is directly connected with the public and corruption in it will not be tolerated. He added that strict action will be taken against the corrupt for transparent functioning of the cooperative committees.
