A pair of 22-inch high cow and a bull has become a major novelty in Haldwani. A jeweller here has bought these micro miniature bovines of the Punganuru breed from Andhra Pradesh.Kaladhungi Road resident Ghanshyam Rastogi, who is the head of the local jewellers association, got the bovines from the Nadipathi Gaushala of Krishnam Raju in Andhra Pradesh.
Eventually the cow will give upto one and a half litres of milk. Rastogi said that he had gone with his family to Tirupati Balaji in June. His son Vendant’s interest in cows and the micro miniature cows in Andhra Pradesh became the subject of a family debate. Following this, Rastogi went to the Gaushala and talked to the owner about procuring the bovines.
The cow and the ox were transported 2,000 kilometres in an eight-seater vehicle to Haldwani. Rastogi has named the cow Lakshmi and the ox Vishnu. Considering the high temperatures being experienced in the Terai region, he has installed a cooler for the bovines.
He said that both the bovines are now acclimatised to the local weather. Rastogi opined that the advent of these bovines in his home has created a positive ambiance.
