In latest news about Uttarakhand, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met the Union minister of communications Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi and requested him to take active role in helping his State in the matters pertaining to communications.

Dhami appealed to the Union minister to ensure that the communication facilities reach the remotest of the frontier villages in the State and in Pithoragarh district in particular. He specially mentioned the small village Gunji and said that mobile tower installed by Reliance is yet to be activated. Further, he requested Scindia to expand the communication network in the places where the mobile and internet facilities are still out of bounds of the people.

Also, Dhami appealed to the Union minister to ensure that the post office located at an important intersection is shifted to another place to rid the bustling Nainital town of daily traffic snarls.

He reminded Scindia of the fact that though 638 towers are to be set up by BSNL under 4G Saturation Scheme in the State, just 224 towers have been installed till now. The State government has acquired the required land for the installation of the rest. The CM requested the Union minister to see to it that these towers are installed at the earliest.

The minister assured he would take all required initiatives to accelerate Uttarakhand’s progress in communications.
