Monday, 08 JULY 2024 | PNS | JYOTIRMATH

Campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Rajendra Singh Bhandari in the Badrinath Vidhan Sabha bypoll to be held on July 10, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the public in Jyotirmath on Sunday. He said that Bhandari had always worked for the development of the constituency and sought votes for him, stating that the BJP works for development while the Congress focuses on appeasement and corruption. The CM expressed confidence that the people of Badrinath constituency will definitely vote for the BJP to move forward on the road to development. Stating that a new story of India’s development is being written under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that the government is building a new India while also focusing on revival of cultural heritage. Work costing Rs 424 crore is underway on the Badrinath master plan while the construction of the Char Dham all-weather road has also been facilitated, he said.

Speaking about the achievements in Uttarakhand, he said that the State government had implemented the Uniform Civil Code making every Uttarakhandi proud about the State being the first in India to do so. “We enacted a strict anti-copying law following which government recruitment exams are being held with full transparency now. About 15,000 appointments have been made in the State since the implementation of this law. Large scale encroachments were removed from government land. Some people tried to riot in Haldwani and we have enacted a strict law to deter people from such actions,” Dhami said. Referring to work being done in the region, he said that work amounting to Rs 1,658 crore is being executed under the Joshimath recovery and reconstruction plan with latest technology being used to check landslides. Better health facilities are being provided on the Char Dham circuit, he added.

Dhami said that on the one hand, the BJP government is working dedicatedly while on the other hand there is the Congress which encourages appeasement, nepotism and corruption. The Congress always focused more on a particular segment than on national interest. It even denied Lord Ram’s existence for the sake of appeasement even as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi calls Hindus violent. He said that the BJP focuses on development while the Congress divides the society and spreads hatred. BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt, Garhwal MP Anil Baluni, cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat and the BJP candidate Rajendra Singh Bhandari were also present on the occasion.
