The police on Sunday arrested seven members of the Mehekma Gang for allegedly firing at the house of a class XII student Abhinav in the Jhabreda area of Haridwar district on July 6. This incident occurred after Ayush, the brother of Abhinav’s classmate Shivansh, reportedly ordered them to do so following a minor dispute between the parties involved, the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal said. The police also recovered two pistols and four live cartridges from the accused. He said that it was revealed during the investigation that Abhinav and Shivansh were reportedly fighting for supremacy among the children studying in their class. They were also having heated arguments through posts and comments on social media. Since Shivansh’s brother Ayush knew members of Mehekma Gang, he went to Abhinav’s home with them at night and allegedly fired at his family with the intention to kill. One of the accused also made the video of the incident and uploaded it on social media, the SSP claimed. He said that the police will also nab four absconding accused soon.
