The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the Congress candidates are poised to register landslide victories in the Badrinath and Manglaur Assembly by- elections.
He said that the people of Badrinath will respond to the election deliberately foisted on them by defeating the BJP candidate while in Manglaur the Congress will win on the basis of the development works done by its candidate Qazi Nizamuddin during his earlier tenure.
Mahara alleged that while Congress is seeking votes on development during its regime the BJP is engaging in misuse of official machinery. He said that both Union and the State governments have become toys in the hands of the industrialists. The PCC president said that the interests of the unemployed are being hit by schemes such as Agnipath and the use of agencies such as Enforcement Directorate, Central Bureau of Investigation and Income Tax is made to harass political opponents.
He added that farmers are at the receiving end of the exploitative regime in the last ten years.
The PCC president said that the Congress workers are being threatened by those in power. He appealed to the people of Badrinath and Manglaur to vote fearlessly and ensure victory of the Congress candidates.
