Saturday, 13 JULY 2024 | PNS | JYOTIRMATH

The national highway to Badrinath was reopened for traffic on the fourth day in Chamoli district on Friday. The highway was blocked by boulders about one kilometre from Jyotirmath on Tuesday morning. This had restricted movement of pilgrims to and from Badrinath. The authorities had been working consistently to clear the road and reopen it for traffic. The efforts succeeded on Friday evening, bringing much cheer to the pilgrims to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib along with tourists to the Valley of Flowers. The highway getting blocked by boulders had led to about 3,000 pilgrims and tourists stuck en route. The sub divisional magistrate Chandrashekhar Vashishth informed that the national highway has been opened for all vehicles.
