CSIR-IIP hosts R&D-Industry Meet

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) hosted a R&D-Industry meet as part of CSIR’s ‘One Week, One Theme’ (OWOT) campaign of the Chemical (including Leather) and Petrochemical (CLP) theme. Held at the IIP campus in Dehradun, this event centred around the ‘Prospects and Challenges in Petrochemicals and Biochemicals’. It aimed to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research advancements and real-world industrial applications, the organisers said. A number of experts, researchers and industry leaders attended and explored future directions and collaborative opportunities in the petrochemical and biochemical sectors.

The principal scientist at CSIR-IIP Umesh Kumar highlighted the strategic importance of the OWOT campaign’s CLP theme while revealing that 28 fast-track translational and focused basic research projects are underway in this theme, costing approximately Rs 25 Crore.

The director CSIR-IIP  H S Bisht emphasised the institute’s focus on advancing energy-efficient and green technologies in the chemical and petrochemical sectors. 

In his keynote address, the secretary general of the Indian Agro & Recycled Paper Mills Association (IARPMA) Bipin Thapliyal lauded the OWOT initiative guided by the Union S&T Minister Jitendra Singh.
