The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the apprehensions of the Congress regarding the proposal passed by the cabinet regarding banning the use of the name of any Dham in Uttarakhand for a trust or a temple anywhere in India are baseless. The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said that this step is a decision that should be welcomed. Regarding the doubts expressed by Congress leaders, Chauhan said that legal action will be taken in any such case. “The exploitation of the name of a Dham or ancient temple in Uttarakhand will not be allowed and legal action will be taken in such cases. The intention of the State government and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is clear- all efforts will be undertaken for the conservation of the Dham and ancient shrines in Uttarakhand. The Congress is simply playing politics by raising hue and cry over the proposed construction of a temple dedicated to Kedarnath. They have nothing to do with Sanatan Dharma or devotion. The Congress is talking of construction of such temples in other States too. However, if the Congress is concerned so much, it should stage opposition in Congress-ruled States and exhibit the moral courage to stop such activities,” Chauhan said.
He further said that the BJP is not against construction of any temple anywhere in the nation. The issue is about replication of Dham or naming a trust after it whereas the Congress hates even the words ‘Mandir’ and ‘Dham’. The Congress has always indulged in appeasement while opposing Sanatan culture and temples but now it has suddenly become concerned about Sanatan culture. The public is fully aware of this hypocrisy of the Congress, he said.
“The Congress is adopting double standards when it comes to the Kedarnath temple slated to be constructed in Delhi and the Badrinath temple already constructed in Mumbai. If there was anything wrong in the Mumbai case, the then Pradesh Congress Committee president and the then chief minister should have maintained a distance from the foundation laying event there. The former PCC president is now calling it a wedding point. The trust concerned has already clarified its stand in the case of Delhi stating that no Dham is being established and that no Shila from Kedarnath has been brought there,” the BJP State media in-charge added.
