Heavy rain warning issued for several districts

The State meteorological centre has issued a red warning (Take Action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places likely to occur in Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and very intense to extremely intense spells are very likely to occur at isolated places in Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. An orange alert (Be Prepared) has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places in Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora districts on Monday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and very intense to extremely intense spells or rain are very likely to occur at isolated places in Pauri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora districts. The meteorological centre has further issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in Tehri, Dehradun and Haridwar districts. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense to very intense spells are very likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Haridwar districts on Monday.
Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, of which one or two spells may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was reported in various parts of the State on Sunday. There was 46 millimetres of rain in Tanakpur, 14.5 millimetres in Rudrapur, 12 millimetres in Rishikesh, 12.4 millimetres in Pantnagar and 3.4 millimetres in Dehradun.
