The State president of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha Asha Nautiyal hailed the General Budget tabled in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday as a robust instrument for women’s empowerment. “I thank the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for prioritising economic development for women along with other segments of the society. I feel proud to mention that the Centre has proposed allocation of over Rs three lakh crore for women-specific schemes and skilling programmes, showcasing the government’s commitment to fostering women-driven development and economic inclusivity,” she said.
Nautiyal further said that the Centre is seeking to create a conducive environment for women professionals. “The budgetary initiatives include enabling market access for all-women self-help groups (SHGs) and collaborating with businesses to set up hostels and daycares for working women. There is a specific emphasis on offering incentives for property acquisitions with reduced fees for properties to be bought by women, making property ownership more attainable and advantageous for women,” she said.
She further mentioned the declaration of the budget to set up 24 new branches of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to enhance services for MSMEs nationwide. “This expansion aims to streamline access to financial services, provide customised assistance and offer vital resources for MSMEs. By enhancing local support, MSMEs will be better equipped to address financial hurdles effectively and capitalise on growth prospects,” she said.
