Vidhan Sabha speaker Khanduri administers oath to Nizamuddin & Butola

Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected MLAs from Manglaur and Badrinath Assembly constituencies Qazi Nizamuddin and Lakhpat Butola on Saturday. The oath ceremony was held in the office of the speaker in Dehradun. After administering the oath the speaker congratulated both MLAs and wished them for their tenure. Khanduri expressed confidence that both the MLAs will contribute in development of their constituencies and the State. Both Qazi and Butola thanked the speaker and those present in the ceremony.
Former chief minister Harish Rawat, the leader of opposition (LoP) in Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya, Chakrata MLA Pritam Singh and other MLAs of Congress party were present on the occasion.
In the recent Assembly by- election held in Manglaur Nizamuddin of Congress defeated his nearest rival Kartar Singh Bhadana of BJP by a margin of 422 votes in a close contest. He has been elected to the State Assembly for the fourth time.
In the Badrinath Assembly by-election, Lakhpat Singh Butola of Congress defeated local heavy weight and BJP candidate Rajendra Singh Bhandari by a margin of 5,224 votes.
In the State Assembly the number of Congress MLAs has increased to 20.
