Restoration underway in rain-affected Tehri

In latest news from Uttarakhand, roads- damaged by the recent rain across Tehri district- are being repaired on war-footing under the supervision of the district magistrate Mayur Dixit. Besides, electricity and water supply- disrupted by the heavy rain- are being restored too. “While the departmental damage assessment works are underway we are moving forward to help restoration of normal life in the disaster-affected areas,” he said.
The executive engineer, Jal Sansthan, Ghansali Santosh Upadhyay said that water supply has been restored in the disaster-affected areas of Budha Kedar like Kot, Vishan and Agundha. “Water supply is smooth in the relief camps too,” he said and added that the pipe line between Jakhanyali Gadhera and Ghansali Bazaar which was damaged by the recent rain could not be repaired till then due to the massive volume of accumulated water. “Once the water recedes the repairing work will commence,” he said.
The executive engineer, Public Works Department (PWD) Ghansali Dinesh Nautiyal said that the debris of the bridge washed away in Nautar Gadera has been removed. “A bailey bridge has been brought from Rishikesh and it is being set up now. Several stretches of roads were damaged during the rain and these are being repaired,” he added.
The district supply officer Manoj Dobhal said that the families which have taken shelter in the relief camps are being provided with food regularly. “Food is being arranged for 196 members of 95 families who are now living in a college -turned relief camp,” he added.
