The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt said that the objections being raised by the Congress to the three-day duration of the Vidhan Sabha session in Gairsain are nothing more than part of the negative politics which the party is habituated to indulging in. He said that the Congress should properly prepare for the session, otherwise even one day will prove to be too long for its MLAs. Those who opposed the formation of Uttarakhand and its development do not want the Vidhan Sabha session to be held in Gairsain, he said, while suggesting that the Congress should stop playing politics even on this issue.
The BJP State president said, “Earlier, their MLAs used to write letters seeking that the Vidhan Sabha session should not be held in Gairsain and later the party used to take a different stand just for the sake of politics. They start every session with ruckus and ensure that the session ends in a similar manner. For them, the Vidhan Sabha session means raising ruckus and staging walk outs to grab media headlines instead of raising the issues of the general public. Everybody is aware of the activities of the Congress and its MLAs in the Assembly. They have never played a constructive role by raising issues of the public and indulging in debate on important issues in the house. They are now saying that the duration of the session is short but when it starts, they will make noise and stage a walkout. It would be better if the Congress prepares properly for the Assembly session otherwise, without issues and ideas, even one day will prove to be too long for its MLAs,” the BJP State president said.
