The two-day conference ‘Saumitreya nidanam’ organised under the aegis of Patanjali Ayurveda College concluded at the University of Patanjali in Haridwar on Thursday.
In the first session, Acharya Balkrishna said that although Ayurveda is timeless having occupied a premier place as a nature-based system of medicine for millennia it lost its glory later and the work ‘Saumitreyanidanam’-the authentic text written in classical style- is proving instrumental in connecting the Ayurveda of the last 2000 years and the Ayurveda of the present time. He further said that the Patanjali is proud of its contribution to the cause of Ayurveda through this work.
“Ayurveda is the most ancient system of medicine but to prove this, we must do research on all the systems of the world. In Ayurveda, we mainly consider Charak, Sushruta and Dhanwantari as the initiators; similarly, there have been some initiators of other systems of medicine as well. By studying them all in proper perspective and putting the history of their evolution together on the basis of facts and evidence, we will be able to prove that Ayurveda is the most ancient, scientific and authentic system of medicine,” he added.
The assistant professor, faculty of Ayurveda, IMS, BHU Vaidya Sushil Kumar Dubey and the associate professor of All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, Dr Sandeep Tiwari spoke on the occasion.
Eminent Ayurveda scholars from various States aside from students and researchers of Patanjali Ayurveda College and Patanjali University were present at the conference.
