A five-member team of the Bharatiya Janata Party visited the disaster-affected area of Rudraprayag district and interacted with the affected locals. The five-member team headed by BJP State general secretary Aditya Kothari visited various disaster-affected areas including Fata, Sitapur and Sonprayag. At the Chaumasi village in Ukhimath block, the villagers informed the team that during the 2013 disaster and the 2024 disaster, the Gaurikund-Kedarnath bridle path was damaged at Lincholi, Rambada, Bhimbali and other spots. In the past and this time too, the rurals and rescue personnel got the pilgrims and locals stranded due to landslides and floods, from Kedarnath via Chaumasi. Considering this, it should be developed as an alternative route to Kedarnath. The BJP leaders informed that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also approved development of this route with survey work already starting for the purpose. The team members inspected the damage caused by the recent disaster and sought information from the officials present about the route being developed. They sat with affected villagers in Rampur and sought their suggestions for redressal of problems being faced in the area. A separate meeting will be held with local traders, hotel owners, operators of horses-mules, dandi-kandi union, taxi union and Teerth Purohits, they added.
It will be recalled that on the directions of BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt, the party has formed teams to visit the disaster-affected areas in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand, interact with the locals and submit a report along with suggestions which may be useful in the future.
