Maintain dignity of Tricolour after I-Day celebrations

The city markets are inundated with Independence Day-themed merchandise like T-shirts, bands, dupattas and more. Many traders offering items in the colours of the national flag have noticed a rising trend among young adults displaying a sense of patriotism. Concerned citizens stress that these symbolic items should not be discarded. They should be used and stored safely after Independence Day, as they represent the national flag.

Tri-colour theme-based items are being sold in Paltan Bazaar, Raja Road and other locations here. Vendor Raju Kohli noted that he has observed a growing interest among young adults in celebrating Independence Day. Such individuals have begun purchasing tricolour t-shirts, bands and flags from him to express their patriotism. These emerging trends of theme-based attire have indirectly fostered a spirit of celebrating Independence Day.

An IT professional Vineet Singh said that everyone intends to commemorate Independence Day by donning tricolour clothes and bands at his workplace. He highlighted that the theme-based attire enables people to express patriotism.

Retired professor Atul Gupta stated that the influence of social media has heightened social awareness, especially among the youth, in relation to commemorating Independence Day. Gupta emphasised that clothing bearing the national flag’s colours should be handled with respect post-celebration instead of being discarded sans respect.

SGRR PG College principal Pradeep Singh highlighted the importance of not disposing of items representing the national flag in inappropriate places following the celebrations. He stated that disrespecting Independence Day items featuring the national flag is inappropriate and should not be encouraged by anyone.
