Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the women’s self-help groups (SHGs) that achieved a turnover of over Rs three crore throughout the State during 2023-24 fiscal year under the Mukhyamantri Sashakt Behna Utsav Yojana (MSBUY). Considering this, Dhami said that the State government is progressing towards women’s empowerment, facilitating everything from packaging to branding for the products prepared by SHGs.
Further, State project manager (Marketing) Rohit Singh provided details about the scheme. He said that during the period from August 2023 to June 2024, women SHGs did business of over Rs three crore through 1,428 stalls in 95 blocks of the State. Additionally, this year, the government has planned to set up stalls at the block level between the date of 25 and 30 of every month and to market the products created by the groups at traditional fairs organised in the state. He added that the scheme was initiated this year with stalls at the secretariat in Dehradun and soon stalls will be established in other blocks of the state.
Singh further added that the scheme has notably boosted the economy of women’s SHGs, facilitating their progress towards self-reliance and empowerment.
It will be recalled that last year, on Rakshabandhan on August 24, Dhami launched MSBUY with the aim of providing a broader market for products manufactured by women’s groups. For this purpose, the Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) department arranges exhibitions of local products manufactured by women’s groups at the block level and oversees the marketing of these products.
