Mahila Cong holds protest on rape & murder of nurse in US Nagar

The workers of the Mahila Congress burned the effigy of the State government here on Saturday to register their protest on the rape and murder of a nurse in Udham Singh Nagar. Large number of the workers led by president of Mahanagar Mahila Congress Urmila Dhoundiyal Thapa assembled at the Astley hall on the day and burnt the effigy of the government.

 Speaking on the occasion, Thapa said crime against women is increasing in the State

Referring to Ankita Bhandari rape and murder case, she said that Ankita’s killers have not been found till date and the Police has not revealed the name of the VIP involved in the crime.

She said that cases such as sexual exploitation of minor girl students by the director of a school for deaf and dumb children in Haldwani, sexual exploitation of a minor girl in Nari Niketan in Haldwani , Vinita murder case of Rishikesh, rape and murder of a Dalit woman in Haridwar show the pathetic law and order situation in the State.
Thapa said that the inflation and unemployment are at their peak but the BJP government is paying no heed to the issues of the general public. 

The Mahanagar Congress president Jaswinder Singh Gogi, Asha Manorama Sharma and others attended the protest.
