Dhami Govt to table supplementary budget in Vidhan Sabha monsoon session

The State government will table a supplementary budget of about Rs 5,000 crore in the Vidhan Sabha during its monsoon session starting in Bharadisain, Gairsain from August 21. The State cabinet gave its approval to the supplementary budget in its meeting held on Saturday.

In another decision the cabinet approved the proposal to change the name of the State Institute for Empowering and Transforming Uttarakhand (SETU) to SETU Commission. The commission will operate on the lines of the NITI Aayog. The proposal to amend the educational qualifications in the Uttarakhand food safety service regulation (group A, B and C) was also approved by the State cabinet. In another decision  the cabinet gave its nod to the Uttarakhand State Protocol (non gazetted) service regulation (amendment)- 2024. This will ensure that seven posts of protocol officers will be recruited from the direct recruitment examination.

At present the SDMs and Tehsildars are sent on protocol duty due to which their routine works get affected. The cabinet also gave its consent for the putting the Annual Financial Report (AFR) of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) in the house during the Monsoon session of the Assembly as per the provisions of the Companies Act-2013. The act mandates that the AFR of the government owned companies should be tabled in the State Assembly along with the audit reports and the comments of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India.  The cabinet also decided to revoke the ban imposed on compassionate appointments of the dependents of the deceased employees in the Sugar (cooperative and public sector units) mills of the State. The decision will pave the way for compassionate appointment of 68 individuals in the sugar mills.

 The meeting of the cabinet was chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The cabinet also offered its tribute to captain Deepak Singh of Dehradun who was recently martyred while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir by observing a two-minute silence.
