125 years’ forest records digitised for posterity

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the forest department has completed digitising its 300 work plans of the past 125 years related to various forest divisions of the State.
Informing this, the chief conservator of forest (work plan) at Haldwani Sanjeev Chaturvedi said that the historical records of the forest department, history of forest management, forest species, data and information related to biodiversity are now be safe and preserved forever in PDF format as heritage records.
He further informed that among the digitised work plans, the oldest one is from 1903 to 1927 pertaining to the Dehradun forest division under United Province whereas the period of the latest work plan is from 2020 to 2030.
The digitised work plans after the creation of the State have been uploaded on the cyber space while the work of uploading the digitised work plans before the creation of the State is in progress, he added.
