In latest news from Doon, the Bharat Bandh– called by some organisations to protest against the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on excluding the creamy layer from the purview of the reservation meant for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes-has evoked little response in Uttarakhand.
Bhim Army and Bahujan Samaj Party activists took out rallies in support of the nationwide bandh. They urged traders to shut down shops. At some places, they even tried to force them to shut shops. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere with a large contingent of police being deployed at sensitive places.
