Commotion occurred at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Monday afternoon when the family members of the journalist Yogesh Dimri alleged that the hospital authorities are planning to discharge him from AIIMS even though his condition was critical. Dimri was admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh on Sunday after he sustained injuries in head, jaw and limbs in an attack by miscreants. It is alleged that the liquor mafia was responsible for the attack on the journalist in Rishikesh.
Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, Badrinath MLA Lakhpat Butola and others opposed the decision of the hospital administration to discharge Dimri. Later the hospital administration informed Godiyal that there is no plan to discharge Dimri.
Godiyal claimed that under pressure from the administration the hospital authorities were planning to discharge Dimri even as his health was critical. He alleged that the hospital authorities had even handed over the discharge summary to the mother of Dimri but later took it back following the protest.
Condemning the attack on Dimri, Godiyal said that the liquor mafia is getting patronage of the Police. He demanded that all those involved in the attack on the journalist should be arrested.
Meanwhile the administration of AIIMS Rishikesh denied that Dimri was being prematurely discharged. The public relations officer of AIIMS Rishikesh, Sandeep Kumar Singh told The Pioneer that the allegations pertaining to Dimri being discharged on Monday are baseless. He said that Dimri is admitted in the institute and is being treated by the doctors.
