A tiger from the Sariska tiger reserve in Rajasthan has strayed into human habitation in Rewari area of Haryana. The Rajasthan government has requested the Uttarakhand government for cages to trap the tiger. Two cages have been sent from Corbett tiger reserve to catch the big cat. The senior veterinary officer from Corbett may also be sent to aid in the efforts to catch the tiger.
The Corbett deputy director Digant Nayak said that the tigers in Sariska are radio collared. One tiger moved out of Sariska and entered Rewari some days ago. The big cat is being sighted in areas inhabited by humans with Sariska personnel attempting to catch it. However, they lack the latest cages for trapping tigers and so the Haryana government requested Uttarakhand for help. Following the request made to Uttarakhand’s chief wildlife warden, two cages have been sent from Corbett. If needed, Corbett’s senior veterinary officer Dr Dushyant Kumar will also be sent to help in the efforts to catch the big cat, he said.
