Govt hikes salaries of contractual super specialist doctors in Govt medical colleges

The State government has decided to hike the salary of the contractual super specialist doctors deployed in the government medical colleges of the State.
The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State government has revised the remuneration given to the super specialist doctors and radiologists deployed in the government medical colleges of the State. He said that the raised salary will be given to the doctors deployed in cardiology, nephrology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, urology and radiology departments. In the medical colleges located in plain areas the professors deployed in the above mentioned departments will now get a monthly salary of Rs four lakh each, associate professors will get Rs 3.20 lakh each, assistant professors will get Rs 2.20 lakh each and senior resident will get Rs 1.50 lakh. Similarly, the professors in medical colleges located in mountainous areas will get a maximum monthly salary of Rs five lakh, associate professors will get Rs four lakh, assistant professors will get Rs three lakh and senior residents Rs two lakh per month. Rawat said that the department has also kept a provision of performance based annual increment of 10 per cent in the salary of assistant professors and senior residents and seven percent for the professors and associate professors.
The minister said that the contractual faculty members will also get the incentive from the claim received by the medical college hospital under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He said that the contractual faculty members will now have to give a notice of three months before resignation. Rawat said that the hike in salary of super specialist faculty members working under contract will help in overcoming the problem of paucity of faculty in the government medical colleges of the State.
