The Uttarakhand Congress will resume its Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra from September 12. The Yatra under the leadership of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara was suspended due to the rain triggered disaster on July 31. Informing about the decision, the State vice president (Organisation) of the Congress, Mathuradutt Joshi said that in view of the natural disaster in the Kedarnath area the Yatra was suspended in Sitapur of Rudraprayag district.
He said that the second phase of Yatra will commence on September 12 after ceremonial hoisting of the flag by the workers of the Congress Sewadal at 7:30 AM. The Yatra will reach Kedarnath in the evening. The PCC president will offer prayers at Kedarnath shrine in the morning of September 13. Thereafter the Yatra will be concluded. Joshi also informed that the PCC president will meet the Teerth Purohits and stakeholders in Kedarnath during his visit.
All the senior leaders of the party, MLAs, former MLAs, state officials and a large number of workers will participate in the Yatra.
Joshi said that the Congress party had started the Yarta from Haridwar on July 24 from Har ki Paidi in Haridwar to register its protest on the efforts to undermine the position of Kedarnath Dham. He said that a trust named after Kedarnath Dham had organized a foundation stone laying ceremony in Buradi of New Delhi for construction of Kedarnath shrine. Joshi said that the sacred stone (Shila) which was transported from Kedarnath should be taken back from New Delhi.
