Mahara asks CM to act on complaint against minister Joshi

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Karan Mahara has said that the chief minister should take a prompt decision on the disproportionate asset case involving the agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi.

He said that the decision of the special vigilance court Judge Manish Mishra to seek the opinion of the State cabinet on charges against the minister is a very serious matter.

Mahara said that it is not for the first time that corruption allegations are levelled on ministers of the BJP government.

He said that the advocate Vikesh Negi had accused Ganesh Joshi for having assets which are disproportionate to his known sources of income. Negi has made the affidavit filed by Joshi with election commission at the time of filing his nomination papers from Mussoorie Assembly constituency in the year 2022 as the basis of his claim.

Acting on the application of Negi, the court had asked the Vigilance department to submit a report in which it said that the council of ministers has been requested to examine the case and act accordingly.

The PCC president said that Joshi has a long history of being involved in controversies. The SC has also reprimanded him in a case related to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

He said that the CM should remove Joshi from his cabinet and get the accusations against him investigated.
