The Bharatiya Janata Party has clarified that investigation is underway in the case of its Ranikhet MLA’s brother Satish Nainwal being caught with 40 live rounds at the India-Nepal border, adding that action will be taken against anyone found guilty.

BJP State spokesman Suresh Joshi said, “According to what we know so far, the MLA’s brother was going to Nepal on a professional visit to get labourers. After the live rounds were found, he said that he had kept his licensed firearm at home but the rounds had remained in his luggage.

He has also shown the authorities documents showing that he had purchased the cartridges legally and that he had no intention of doing anything unlawful. The matter is under investigation and legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty,” Joshi said.
