In support of their demand for cancellation of the headmaster recruitment examination and departmental promotion, the agitating teachers belonging to Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh are on a relay hunger strike at the State Education Directorate. The hunger strike entered its third day on Thursday.
The president of the RSS, Ram Singh Chauhan said that the Education department should respect the seniority of teachers and promote them. He said that the teachers are superannuating on the post they were first posted on, which is unfortunate. Chauhan said that the teachers will not tolerate injustice and added that the government should take initiative to dispose of the court cases regarding promotion of teachers. He warned that the teachers will be forced to intensify their agitation if the order for the cancellation of the headmaster recruitment examination is not issued soon.
The vice president of the RSS, Ramkumar Chaudhary appealed to the teachers not to get misled by the misinformation campaign against the agitation. He said that the agitation will continue till the demand of teachers of filling all the posts by seniority and cancellation of headmaster recruitment examination is accepted by the State government.
On Thursday, the teachers of Tehri and Champawat district observed a hunger strike.
It is pertinent to mention here that after the agitation of the teachers the education department has decided to suspend the headmaster recruitment examination slated later this month. The RSS however wants that the departmental secretary should give written order for cancellation of examinations.
