WECD Dept to enhance financial security of girls under NGY scheme

In an effort to enhance the financial security of the girls enrolled under the Nanda Gaura Yojana (NGY) scheme, the Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) department has recommended an increase in the monetary assistance provided to the beneficiaries.
Informing about this, the director of the WECD department, Prashant Arya informed that in order to offer greater financial security to the State’s girls, the department is considering additional measures within the NGY scheme. As per the proposal, the department aims to raise the financial assistance provided to registered young girls under the NGY to over Rs 10,000 annually.
The proposal for this initiative is currently in the process of being reviewed by senior officials. Upon finalisation of the proposal, it will be submitted to the State government for approval. It is expected the proposal to enhance financial security under the NGY will be finalised within two months, he added.
It will be recalled that under the NGY scheme provides an initial grant of Rs 11,000 upon the birth of a girl child, along with an additional annual sum of Rs 51,000 when she completes Class XII and pursues higher education in graduation or diploma courses. The amount under the NGY is allocated every year to those who registered themselves for the particular financial year.
This year, the registration process for the Nanda Gaura Yojana (NGY) has commenced and will be open until November 30. For the 2024-2025 registration, interested individuals are required to apply through the online website www.nandagaurauk.in.
