The two-phased Kedarnath Pratishtha Raksha Yatra of Uttarakhand Congress ended on Friday at Kedarnath shrine. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara offered prayers at Kedarnath and Bhairav temple on the day. Speaking on the occasion he said that the Congress workers prayed for good sense to prevail on those who are trying to divide Kedarnath Dham which is a symbol of faith of followers of Sanatan Dharma.
Congratulating the Congress workers for a successful Yatra, Mahara said that heavy rains failed to deter their enthusiasm. He said that the stone (Shila) from Kedarnath which was also taken to Buradi in New Delhi should be returned. Mahara said that the local people are demanding that the Shila should be taken back to Kedarnath and are linking its transportation with the natural disaster. He said that some people are constructing hotels and other buildings in Kedarnath in violation of norms and demanded that the government should immediately stop such constructions.
The PCC president said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also undermined the prestige of Kedarnath by holding photo sessions in the Garbh Grah of the Dham.
Mahara also attacked the BJP government for “snatching the employment from locals” in the Char Dham Yatra. He said that those responsible for theft of gold from Kedarnath dham should be identified and punished.
The secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and co in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress Surendra Sharma said that the religious sentiments of Hindus were hurt when foundation of a purported Jyotirlinga was laid in Buradi of New Delhi in presence of CM of Uttarakhand. He said that the bridle route to Kedarnath is in bad shape due to which pilgrims face many problems. Sharma congratulated Mahara for taking out a successful Yatra in difficult times.
