The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal directed the authorities concerned to initiate work on constructing a multi-level automated parking facility in the old Tehsil premises in Dehradun. This will potentially decongest the market roads and improve traffic management around the area. Bansal said this during the surprise inspection of the premises on Friday morning. He reached the Tehsil premises at 9:50 AM amidst rain. He inspected the attendance register and issued warnings to staff arriving late, instructing that the salaries of those arriving after 10:30 AM should be withheld for one day. Noticing inefficiency in the functioning of certain departments, Bansal ordered the transfer of some officials.
He also expressed his displeasure upon discovering dirty staircases in the premises and directed that a fine be imposed on the contractor responsible for maintaining sanitation. Following his instructions, a penalty of Rs one lakh was imposed on the contractor by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD). He also expressed concern over the malfunctioning lift in the Tehsil premises. The MDDA officials present informed him that the repair work was underway, to which he directed that the lift be fixed within a month. The DM also reviewed the recovery status of pending cases and instructed officials to intensify collection efforts. He emphasised that all dues exceeding Rs 10 lakh must be recovered within a month, warning of suspension for any negligence. He further examined the status of pending court cases and the updates made to records following mutation orders, instructing that records be updated immediately after orders are issued. Bansal directed the officials and staff to do their work efficiently or strict action will be taken against them.
