Thousands of devotees attended the Mata Murti Utsav held in Badrinath on the occasion of Bhadrapad Baman Dwadashi on Sunday. After rain and light snowfall in recent days, clear skies and sunny weather prevailed in Badrinath on Sunday. After the Bal Bhog early in the morning in Badrinath temple, Lord Badrinath’s representative Uddhav and the seat of Adi Shankaracharya were carried in a procession to the Mata Murti Mandir accompanied by a band of the Garhwal Rifles and thousands of devotees hailing the lord. The Badrinath Rawal, Amarnath Namboodari also reached the Mata Murti Mandir along with the Dolis and devotees. Upon reaching the temple, Uddhav is believed to have asked Mata Murti about her wellbeing while also informing her about Lord Badrinath’s wellbeing. The Rawal, Dharmadhikari, Vedpathis and Mata Mutri Mandir priest conducted special Pooja and Archana on the occasion. About 7,000 devotees paid obeisance at the temple and witnessed the Dev Dolis before partaking of the Prasad on the occasion. Earlier, Pradhan of the Mana village Peetambar Molfo and Mana’s Mahila Mandal members presented Hariyali to Uddhav. A Bhandara was also organised by ITBP and Assam Rifles along with the devotees. The Doli of Uddhav and seat of Shankaracharya returned to Badrinath temple at about 3 PM. While Uddhav was seated in the Shri Badrish Panchayat, the seat of Adi Shankaracharya was placed in the temple premises.
