Cocaine worth Rs 1.3 crore seized in Haridwar, trio arrested

The police arrested three accused with cocaine reportedly worth over Rs 1.3 crore in Haridwar on Thursday. In a joint operation, the police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) apprehended three cocaine smugglers on a motorcycle and seized 183 grammes of cocaine, estimated to be worth Rs 1.3 crore in the market. The accused were arrested and a case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the law. After their medical examination, they were presented in court and subsequently sent to jail, the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobhal said. He revealed that the ANTF had received information regarding cocaine trafficking in the district. Acting on this information, the ANTF team closely monitored the suspects, alerting their network of informants to gather daily updates on the smugglers. Following a solid tip-off that three individuals will arrive in the Landhaura area with a considerable quantity of cocaine, a joint team of ANTF and police planned a sting operation and successfully apprehended the smugglers. The arrested accused have been identified as Azad, Tanveer Ali and Fariyad Ali, all three from Laksar. During interrogation, the smugglers provided crucial information regarding their drug operations and further action will be taken accordingly, he added.
