Heavy rains likely in 8 districts today, temperature to fall at few places

With light to moderate rain being witnessed in various parts of the State at the fag end of the monsoon, the State meteorological centre forecast on Thursday that the maximum temperature is likely to fall by three to four degrees Celsius at a few places during the next 24 hours. The centre has also issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at a few places in Bageshwar district while a yellow alert has been issued regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand on Friday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State today.  Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital and Champawat districts and at many places in the remaining districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. One to two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers accompanied with lightning are likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
