Moderate rain brings maximum temperature down, heavy rain warning issued for today

Moderate rain on Friday night in Dehradun and other places caused a drop in maximum temperatures in various parts of the State on Saturday. Even as the monsoon is in the process of withdrawal, more rain is forecast in the State. The State meteorological centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Pithoragarh and Bageshwar districts on Sunday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Kumaon region and in Dehradun, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts of Garhwal region today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in all districts of Kumaon region and Dehradun, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts of Garhwal region and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of light rainfall/thundershowers in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Saturday were 29.4 degrees Celsius and 22.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 30.4 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 19.4 degrees Celsius and 13.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.5 degrees Celsius and 16.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature was one degree below normal in Dehradun, three degrees below normal in Pantnagar, two degrees below normal in Mukteshwar and three degrees below normal in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in a few places in the State on Saturday.
