Police identify about 100 unauthorised structures, including religious establishments in Pachwadoon

The police have identified about 100 unauthorised structures, including religious establishments, houses and shops, built on government property in Pachwadoon area of Dehradun district. These unauthorised structures, spanning across multiple locations from Dakpathar to Pul Number one, Nawabgarh, Dhakrani and several other areas, were marked for further action on Monday.

The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh conducted an inspection of the area on Monday and reviewed encroachments related grievances of the public in areas such as Dhakrani, Bhimawala, Dakpathar Barrage and Khadar Basti. He said that several religious structures and about 90 houses and shops were identified as illegally built on public land. He said that the encroachments in Sahaspur and Selaqui were identified and are slated for similar corrective measures. Singh instructed officials to coordinate with the respective departments to ensure that all illegal structures are removed. He stated that this initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to address illegal land use and protect public and village properties from misuse.

The authorities have intensified its efforts to remove unauthorised structures, including religious establishments, houses, and shops, built on government properties in the district and reclaim them. Singh said that a large scale verification campaign is also being carried out across the district to check the identity and background of individuals from other states who have settled in these areas. The police will now also conduct verification drives w to identify those occupying lands without proper authorisation, especially those from outside Uttarakhand, he added.
