Revenue inspector arrested in Pauri for accepting bribe

A team of the Vigilance Establishment arrested the revenue inspector of Agroda in Pauri district on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The team apprehended the accused red-handed and started investigating his movable and immovable properties through searches at various locations, including his residence. The officials said that a complaint was filed against the revenue inspector, Kailash Ravi, by a person at the Vigilance. The complainant reported that the inspector was reportedly demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 in exchange for demarcating ancestral land listed under Khata number 20 and for preparing a report in favour of the complainant’s father’s land in the Naugaon area in Pauri. The officials said that after receiving the complaint, the Vigilance team initiated a preliminary investigation, which confirmed the authenticity of the allegations. Following this, the team set up a trap and arrested Ravi while he was accepting the bribe at a designated spot in the Pendul area in Pauri. After the arrest, a team of Vigilance from Dehradun searched the residence of the accused and questioned him regarding his assets to gather necessary proofs regarding the corruption charges against him. The team will take further action accordingly in the case, as per the officials. The director of the Vigilance, V Murugesan appreciated the trap team and announced a cash reward for their successful operation. Murugesan also urged the public to report any government officials or public servants demanding bribes through the toll-free helpline number 1064 or via WhatsApp at 9456592300. He assured that the identity of the complainants will be kept hidden while ensuring strict action against culprits.
