In latest news from Uttarakhand, Manish Naja took over as the fulltime director of Aryabhatta of Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) from Brijesh Kumar who was its officiating director. Naja had joined ARIES in 2006 and was working as the Scientist-G before assuming charge as the director. He has been heading the department of Atmospheric Science of the institute for the past four years. He is also a member of the Expert Committee on Atmospheric Science of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India. He expressed hope that under his directorship, the institute would continue to progress and contribute to cutting-edge research in astronomy and atmospheric science. Aries is an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
