The two-day Aanchal Milk Producer Fair -organised under the joint aegis of Nainital Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Limited (NDUSSL) and Uttarakhand Dairy Federation- was inaugurated by the MLA Ramnagar Diwan Singh Bisht here on Wednesday.

In his inaugural address, he said that this is the first of its kind fair in the State with the State government intent on helping the milk producers associated with cooperative institutions derive long-term benefits. “The State government has already taken a string of initiatives to boost cooperative milk production and enhance the economic status of the producers like providing milk price incentives in hill areas and subsidy on silage and dairy animal purchase aside from ensuring timely payment to all the milk producers working under the cooperative framework,” he said.

Over two dozen stalls of different departments, including Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries and National Livelihood Mission, were set up in the fair. Besides, there are stalls which sell baskets, Kumaoni cuisines, spices, Manduwa ka Halwa, Jhingore ki Khir and momos among others.

Further, NDUSSL felicitated three best milk producers of the district with cheques and citations.
