Health dept terminates PPP contract with private players in hospitals

In a major decision, the State Health department has decided to end the system of Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode of operation of government hospitals. The department will now take control of RD Joshi combined hospital Ramnagar and half a dozen other health units after ending  its contract with the private players under the PPP model.

The health and family welfare minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State government has decided to end the contract with the private players under the PPP mode in all the nine health centres under the World Bank funded Uttarakhand health system development project.

 He said that recently the government has taken back the operation of district hospital Bauradi in Tehri and health centres of Bilkeshwar and Devprayag.

The department will soon take control of RD Joshi hospital Ramnagar, CHC Bhikiyasain and Beeronkhal. The minister said that the department was receiving complaints about the hospitals being operated under the PPP mode.   He said that the decision to take back the operation of these hospitals has been taken in public interest and to provide better health services to the people. Rawat said that the chief medical officers have been directed to prepare a list of all the equipment and other facilities in these hospitals for completing the process of acquiring their control.
