SCPCR holds meeting on child rights

The chairwoman of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Geeta Khanna presided over a virtual meeting with various departments to discuss child rights on the occasion of Children’s Day on Thursday. The departments at the meeting included the Police, Education department, Women Welfare department and others. Khanna informed that she provided detailed information about children’s rights and their protection, highlighting the background of child rights as well as the role of society and government in ensuring these rights.
She further added that during the meeting, a dialogue was established between the children, their families and the representatives of various departments, with a focus on explaining the importance of child rights. Khanna emphasised that raising awareness among children about their rights is essential for meaningful progress in protecting those rights. She noted that this initiative by the SCPCR aims to enhance awareness of children’s rights in the state and concrete steps will be taken to ensure their safety. Additionally, this meeting is scheduled to take place in the remaining 12 districts of the State on November 16, as part of the programme initiated by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, she added.
Further, Khanna informed that in response to a video showing children working in the mining area of Vikasnagar, she has directed the sub divisional magistrate to take immediate action regarding the situation.
