U’khand achieves target in PM Svanidhi scheme

Uttarakhand has achieved 100 per cent of its target in the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM Svanidhi) scheme. More than 40,000 street vendors have so far received financial assistance under the scheme in the State.
The PM Svanidhi scheme was launched to provide help to small businessmen affected during the pandemic of Covid-19. The scheme has proved to be a blessing to the small businessmen. In Uttarakhand, the Urban Development department functions as the nodal agency for the scheme. The beneficiaries are provided a loan of Rs 10,000 in first phase, Rs 20,000 in second and Rs 50,000 in third phase as working capital during the loan period. The loan is provided without guarantee and the second installment is provided only after the loan given in the first installment is paid back by the beneficiary. Similarly the amount of the third phase is given after the second installment is paid back.
A total of 27,330 beneficiaries have been provided an installment of Rs 10,000 each in the first phase while 10,349 people have received a loan of Rs 20,000. Similarly 2,364 beneficiaries have received loan amount of Rs 50,000 each in the third phase.
The government of India has given a target of 40,005 beneficiaries under the scheme to Uttarakhand against whom the State has provided assistance to 40,043 people. A sum of Rs 59.64 crore has so far been provided to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
Expressing happiness at the success, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the both Union and the State governments prepare policies while keeping the interests of people standing last in the social ladder in the center. He said that the objective of the PM Svanidhi scheme is welfare of the small businessmen. The CM congratulated the officers of the Urban Development department and Municipal bodies for the success of the scheme.
