The Aam Aadmi Party announced 15 guarantees to the public including free education and free health facilities, which it will work on if it wins in the coming local body elections in the State. Releasing the 15 guarantees of the party here at the Press Club on Saturday, the AAP MLA from Trilokpuri, Delhi and its co in-charge in Uttarakhand, Rohit Mehroliya said that if the people of the State elect AAP candidates in the coming local body elections to give a majority to the party, the AAP guarantees to work on 15 important issues in the local body areas. He said, “On winning, we will build schools and Mohalla clinics to provide free education and free health facilities to the people. We will also construct marriage halls and provide these to the public at minimal rates in addition to ensuring the regularisation of sanitation workers and reading rooms for senior citizens in the cities. The AAP will also create vending zones for the street vendors in the areas under the purview of the local bodies,” he said.
Mehroliya claimed that the use of the word ‘guarantee’ in Indian politics originated in the AAP and that its governments in Delhi and Punjab had fulfilled the guarantees it had given to the public. He said, “The people of Uttarakhand have been suffering due to issues related to basic facilities for the past 24 years. The successive local governments under the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress failed to ensure basic facilities for the public in their cities and localities. Today, AAP is the only viable option available to the public as it is capable of developing Uttarakhand as envisioned by those who laid down their lives in the statehood movement,” Mehroliya claimed.
Addressing the media, the party’s State officiating head SS Kaler said that if the BJP and Congress have been doing their politics with honesty, the AAP challenges the two parties to approach the public with their election manifesto for the previous election. They should inform the people about the 2018 local body election manifesto promises which they have fulfilled. He said, “The AAP is ready to contest the coming local body elections. We have built up our organisation to the booth level. In each of the local bodies, AAP workers, office bearers and persons from non-political organisations and socially active persons have staked their claim to contest in the election. Our party workers will visit the people in the wards in all the districts from Monday to assure them of fulfilling the 15 guarantees announced by the party. We will also work on boosting the party’s membership through our missed call number,” he added.
