ARIES imparts basic astronomical knowledge to students

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the students of some government higher secondary schools learnt about the mystery of solar activity and explosions in the sun along with their impact on the earth at Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) under India International Science Festival. The public relations programme in-charge of Aries, Virendra Yadav said that the Sun is now hyper active and fierce explosions are taking place on the surface of the Sun daily while geomagnetic solar storms with high energetic particles are reaching the Earth’s poles. The senior scientist and chairman of the Astronomy division, Jeevan Chandra Pandey explained to the students the importance of using telescopes and light to examine celestial bodies. Optics engineer Jayshreekar Pant made the students aware of the working system of the telescope while research student Khushboo gave information to the students about making a career in astronomy.
